Sun City Summerlin is a 2,400-acre age-restricted community in Las Vegas. It was built by an American real estate developer Del Webb in 1999 and has since become the largest 55+ age restricted active lifestyle community in the Las Vegas Valley.
All residences of the community must have at least one occupant of the age of age 55 or older and no permanent resident under age of 19. Sun City Summerlin has nearly 8,000 homes ranging from free-standing homes from 1,100 square foot to 3,000 square foot to townhouses from 1,000 square foot to 1,800 square foot.

initially built in a relatively flat area, but as the community continued to expand, more properties were built on an elevation providing a dramatic view of the entire city and nearby Spring Mountains.

Three 18-hole golf courses in the area are The Highlands, The Palm, Eagle Crest. Sun City Summerlin also has a multitude of other outdoor amenities such as hobby room, tennis courts, a racquetball court, pickleball courts, indoor and outdoor pools throughout the area.
Four community centers in the area include Mt. Shadows, The Pinnacle, Sun Shadows, and Desert Vista. Each of these facilities offers a plethora options for active lifestyle and recreation, as they have pools and spas, rooms for aerobics, tennis courts, ballrooms and softball field. The Pinnacle is known for its unique softball field that attracts residents from all over the community.
Close proximity to the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area is another benefit that residents of Sun City Summerlin get to enjoy. The world-famous recreation area offers plentiful opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, running and bicycling.
Sun City Summerlin is a home to more than 80 resident-organized clubs that cover a great range of hobbies and interests.
Sun City Summerlin has three shopping centers within the community: The Rampart Center, Plaza North, and Plaza South. Smith’s grocery store located in Sun City Summerlin has a pedestrian and golf cart access.
Other major stores and restaurants are also within a short drive away, as nearby areas have seen a rapid growth in the past decade. Sun City Summerlin sits a few miles north of Downtown Summerlin and other commercial businesses that are located off Interstate-215.
A public bus that offers reduced senior fare goes through Sun City Summerlin allowing for a quick access to any point in the Las Vegas Valley.
Several eateries are located within Sun City Summerlin. Tavern at the Falls which is run by the community association serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Palm Valley restaurant associated with Palm Valley Golf Course has a wide variety of options on its menu. El Burrito, a traditional Mexican restaurant in the Rampart Center.
